Maybe, darling, the dawn will come and take you.

It will wrap its golden arms around you,

and light up every piece of your wounded soul.

It will heal you with its promises of a golden day;

You — a broken babe, a lamb — a tender little foal;

It will stretch out its ambers, silvers, and reds

and turn the fragile parts of you to gold.

//

Maybe, darling, the dawn will come and take you.

And as that certain sun rises over a green, breathing field,

You will rise too.

You will brush off the green grass and meet the dawn’s gaze,

soft light in your eyes and lungs alight,

And you will know — I promise that you will know –

That just as the dawn breathes;

And the trees;

And the wind;

And every little creature on this beautiful green earth–

That you must breathe too:

So let the dawn take you,

And be birthed anew.
